The 2007 vintage was characterised by small yields and nearly perfect warm and dry weather, which continued right through until harvest on April 4th.
This ideal weather leading up to harvest enabled us to closely monitor the vineyard and pick the grapes at the peak of flavour development. The 2007 Tupari Sauvignon Blanc shows lifted stone fruit and apricot notes on the nose. The creamy palate has rich mineral/citrus flavours and the wine is underpinned by a crisp finish. This wine can be drunk now and over the next two years. Try with fresh oysters. Click here for full Tasting Notes
Reviews: The Wine Gang - UK Score: 93/100 "What makes this a gold medal winner? In a way it's the things it's not that make it stand out. It's unmistakeably Sauvignon, but there's none of the o-t-t gooseberry sweetness that quickly palls in some cheaper labels. Instead there's an intensity and length of flavour - both fruit and steely minerality. We're tempted to say it's quite European in style, but we wouldn't want to offend the people at Tupari. Michael Coopers Buyers Guide of NZ Wines (2009) Score: 5 stars "The 2007 vintage is a single vineyard wine. ...mostly handled in tanks and lees-aged for five months, but 10 per cent was barrel fermented... A notably refined and concentrated wine, it's a complex, dry style (3.1g/L residual sugar) with moderate acidity and impressive weight, ripeness and harmony."
